Momentum Moving

21st March 2009

Hi all!

It’s time for the monthly State of the Mab address where I touch on the fabulous projects going on.

The Website

The new and improved website is coming along nicely.  After much … colorful language, this site now has a Concession Stand where you can take home fun and exciting things, pre-register for workshops, or even buy advance tickets (at a discount!) to upcoming shows!  Not only that, you can make donations towards supporting live entertainment and the arts!  How freaking cool is that?  I’ll tell you: very.

Vaudeville Adventures!

Things are picking up!  the next few months are jam packed with exciting events!

April will see not 1, not 2, but 3! events that involve the collaboration of my old buddies, and Accidental Circus Alumni, Paolo Garbanzo and Onca, with new comer and most brilliant musician, August.  We did a show last January, and magic happened.  Everyone who was lucky enough to see the show, all agree that this was a perfect storm of performers.  We had so much fun, we pooled our efforts and set up 2 shows and 1 workshop day!

Wanna Join the Circus?

That’s right! The Cheeky Monkey Sideshow and Paolo Garbanzo are teaming up to bring you 1 day of variety arts workshops.  In that one day, you will learn everything you need to put on a show.  We will be teaching Juggling, Improv, Showcraft, and even Mentalism!

And just think.  you can say you learned how to juggle from the Jester of England.

Faeries & Goblins!

Wedjii Toocheaks, my Trans-Fae Goblin character, has been invited to perform at 2 (!) faerie Festivals this year!  Last year saw Wedji win the Dark Faerie costume contest at the Faerieworlds FaerieCon in Philly.  She was such a hit, I decided to spend time developing an entire show!   All Goblin!  All the time!  So look for Wedji at Maryland Faerie Festival in May, as well as the NY Faerie Fest in June!  Everybody love a Wedji!

Other Fun Stuff!

It’s not a well concealed fact that I’m a Geek through and through.  so when I had the chance to be an extra on a Firefly fan film, you can bet I jumped at the opportunity!  Sure it will mean no sleep, a long weekend, and lots of hard work, but dang it!  I have to show my love for Serenity any way I can.  Filming will be the first weekend of April, near Ocean City.  If anyone lives in that area and is willing to offer a couch for a wayward sideshow girl to crash on, drop me a line!

Special Acknowledgment!

Joe from Dev-Inspire Photographs came out to this month’s Vixen Variety show @ the Palace.   The photos he took really blew me away!  He captured the most amazing fire eating shot!  (and that’s a hard one to get right!)  Check out his work, and tell him was a fantastic photographer he is!

That’s it for now!  More changes, news, shows and events are coming down the line!  Keep your inter-tubes dialed to this station!  And as always, I’ll see you at the Palace!
